"Choice" Grade Melogold Grapefruit
The Melogold Grapefruit is what you get when you cross a low acid Pomelo with a white grapefruit. "Melo" for the sweet 'mello' flavor, and "Gold" for the deep yellow color of the skin when they fully turn color. This hybrid has only been around since 1986, but has quickly become a citrus lovers favorite...especially if you want a lower acid grapefruit. Melogolds are very juicy with a "sweet-tart" flavor that lends itself to great tasting recipes, like mixed drinks or fruit salads. You can eat them with a spoon or peel them like an orange or even juice them in the morning for a delicious, healthful, and eye-opening breakfast drink!
So what is a "CHOICE" Grade Melogold Grapefruit?
Choice Grade refers to fruit that has exterior blemishes from wind, hail, ice, mechanical, or possibly even pest damage. That's it! The INSIDE is perfectly delicious, sweet and juicy, just like you would want a Melogold to taste like. So if you don't mind the imperfections, and you like saving a little money, since we can't sell them as "Premium #1" Grade, then maybe it's time to "go for the gold" with these delicious grapefruits.
Each full order box contains 20 lbs (approx. 12-22 pieces) of Melogold Grapefruit
Gorgeous and delicious, but not as sweet as it has been in the past. Beautiful fruit, each one big enough for 2, skin not too thick. Love these, just wish they were sweeter.

Ive ordered got the past 5 years and this years crop half green, juicy but not very sweet or flavorful. Maybe I ordered early even though I waited. A bit disappointed this year
