Fresh Fukushu Kumquats

Fukushu Kumquats are the small but powerful citrus fruits you just have to try! With a tart-sweet flavor that can’t be beat, the real flavor is in the rind/peel itself! When you bite into them, you get that wonderful burst of tart citrus flavor, then comes the sweetness from the peel! You can eat them “as-is,” peel and all, or as many people like to do, you can make a marmalade-preserve with them. These little guys are truly special!

So, if you like the juicy citrus taste of mandarins, but a little more tart, and you enjoy small little flavor packed kumquats then you are sure to enjoy Fukushu Kumquats! The rind is orange and thinner than other varieties of kumquats. The flesh is orange, “sweet-tart” and acidic, and does contains a few seeds. Fukushus are quite versatile to enjoy. Think of all the great ways you can use them in your kitchen…you can eat them as is as a healthful snack, or sliced up in salads for that added “zing” of flavor. Of course they are awesome when used purees. The juice can be used in marinades or cocktails, and even made into syrup. And think of how flavorful a vinaigrette salad dressing would be with that tangy citrus flavor...Yum-O! Right?  B-T-W... Fukushus will keep up to two weeks when refrigerated.

When are Fukushu Kumquats available?

Fukushu Kumquats have a rather different harvesting season than oranges. They are typically available at various times of the growing year (which is heavily dependent on weather conditions), so their availability throughout the year will vary.

How many pounds do I get in a box?

This order for Fukushu Kumquats is for 1 pound, approximately 10-16 pieces.

Kumquats- meh for us. Not sure what they were supposed to be like but very little juice.

We were really hoping to buy calamansi that had been available until a few weeks before. Since calamansi with amazing amount of juice are a cross between kumquats and mandarins, we thought we would order the kumquats. They offered a small amount of juice and after a week or so, almost none. Nothing to compare them to - maybe this is just how they are. We squeeze the juice on the amazing papaya we had just ordered from Hawaii!!

It is amazing what I am remembering now at 84 about my childhood

It is amazing what I am remembering now at 84 about my childhood. From the Deep South, I remember a neighbor who owned a Kumquat bush that she nurtured while her husband was off fighting the war. She cried every time she did so. Thank you for bringing these memories back through your wonderful, perfect Fukushu Kumquats.

Hi Anna, we're so touched that the Fukushu Kumquats brought back such warm memories for you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story with us and we sincerely thank you for your business. We hope we can serve you again in the future, it would be our honor.

As a fan of kumquats

As a fan of kumquats, I personally prefer the taste of the Nagami kumquat. The Fukushu variety is not as sweet-tart sassy as the Nagami. Will you be offering Nagamis?

Hi Josephine, thank you for your honest feedback. We're sorry you weren't as fond of the Fukushus as you are of Nagamis. We do carry them, however the current season for Nagami Kumquats is over. We will carry them again next season starting in about the end of January. Thank you so much for your business and your feedback. It really matters to us. Thank you.

Some sweet some sour

You expect some variability in a natural product, but this batch has been more variable than others I've had in this past. Some have been really sweet but others are quite sour. All in all, still an enjoyable treat.

Hi Larry, thank you for honest review of the Fukushu Kumquats. We had some strange weather at the beginning of the season which may have affected the flavor of some of the Fukushus. However, we are happy that you found the fruit mostly enjoyable. We always stand by our guarantee on all the fruit, so if there is anything we can do to make your next order better, please reach out to us at 559-784-9000 (M-F 9am-5pm Pacific Time)! Thank you so much for your business!

Impossibly Beautiful and Delicious Plump Kumquats

My first time ordering from Pearson Ranch, and it won't be the last time. Everything was perfect, shipping, packaging, and most importantly, the glorious and extremely plump and absolutely delicious kumquats. These are the most beautiful and delicious kumquats I've eaten. They've ruined me for the grocery store kumquats.

Hi Andrea, WOW...thank you for the awesome review on the Fukushu Kumquats!!! We are so happy that you are enjoying them so much. Please reach out if you wish to order more, we are here to serve you with all your citrus needs. Cheers!

Great source for fresh kumquats

I had been searching high and low for kumquats-I could not find a grocery store in western Washington that carried them….and I needed them for our Thanksgiving cranberry kumquats dish. I was so very happy to have them shipped directly from the source so I could carry on this 40 year old family tradition. The kumquats arrived well packed and were turned into our all time favorite side dish! Thank you!!

Hi Kari, we are so happy that we were able to get your Fukushus to you in time for Thanksgiving! We believe that keeping culinary traditions alive are important, especially during the holidays! Thank you for your order and we hope to serve you again in the future with more great California citrus. Cheers!

Pearson wrench was not able to help me after all.

Update: Audrey from Pearson Ranch reached out to me regarding my issue. I should have just called there first. And yes, someone actually reached out to me regarding a review, thank you, Audrey.
Audrey is going to make it right, as I will receive some delicious kumquots when they are right with the season .

Half were mush soft

I always had good experience with your citrus but this 1 lb. of Fukushu Kumquats was deceiving with half that rotted just after 2 days in the refrigerator. I will order more soon to make our favorite jam, hoping in better luck

My Favorites

I like Fukushu better than other varieties I have tried. Last season I placed an order late in the Fukushu season and they were wonderful. The batch I got recently early in the season was not as nice. About half of them were a bit on the green side and did not have the flavor I expected. So in the future I will be patient and wait for them all to be mature.
