Something special about Oranges in Summer...Did you know that in the summer months perfectly ripe Oranges, while still hanging on the tree can start to once again show shades of green color? In the world of citrus farming it is called "re-greening". Simply stated, the warm daytime temperatures may cause reabsorption of chlorophyll back into the skin of the orange, causing the partial green color to occur. However, rest assured; in no way does it affect the deliciously sweet, tangy flavor!
The oranges arrived in good time and were made into orange thyme jam or fresh squeezed orange juice. Only wish they were grown organic as I had to buy organic oranges to have the required zested orange rind for the jam. Otherwise, the jam was excellent as well as the orange juice.
We love your wonderful California Valencia Oranges! They have a wonderful sweet taste and are easy to peel. Many of the oranges have no seeds and those that have seeds have only a few seeds.
